ARCH Research seminar: Chris Smart and João Fonte presenting “Roman Expansion West of Exeter: New Evidence”

This presentation will outline the main findings of four years of collaborative research into the impact of the Roman army in the South West peninsula, focussing on data collected through various means of remote sensing. It draws upon large-scale geophysical and remote sensing surveys and a successful pilot programme of ‘crowd-sourced’ airborne LiDAR analysis.
Chris Smart is a Postdoctoral Research Associate and Project Manager in the Department of Archaeology at the University of Exeter.
João Fonte is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow and landscape archaeologist specialising in remote sensing and GIS.
